ASTRAL’s title defence at Urban Riga Open Season 6 came to an end with a second-place finish after an unforgettable two-day run in Riga.
The tournament didn’t start the way we had hoped. Back-to-back losses in the group stage left us on the brink of elimination, forcing us into a must-win final group match just to keep our playoff hopes alive. The team delivered when it mattered most, securing the victory needed to qualify for the playoffs in third place.
From there, the momentum shifted.
ASTRAL opened the playoff stage with a convincing 2-0 victory over NAVI Junior in the quarter-finals before defeating PURE 2-0 in the semi-finals to book a place in the Grand Final.
Waiting for us in the final was BRUTE, where despite a hard-fought series, we fell 1-2, finishing the tournament as runners-up.
While we couldn’t defend the Urban Riga Open title, the way the team responded after such a difficult opening day speaks volumes about the character of this roster. Turning a near group-stage exit into a Grand Final appearance is something the team can be proud of, even if the trophy ultimately slipped away.
