Astral Esports have been crowned Urban Riga Open Season 5 Champions, lifting the first trophy in the organization’s history after an undefeated run through both the group stage and playoffs.
Held in Riga, Latvia, Urban Riga Open Season 5 brought together eight teams for two days of LAN competition. The tournament featured a group stage on June 28, followed by the playoffs on June 29, where the top three teams from each group advanced to Championship Sunday.
A Perfect Group Stage
Astral opened the tournament in Group A alongside 6666, BERG, and SINQU REHTI.
The team got off to the perfect start with a convincing 13-4 victory over 6666, before continuing their dominant form with a 13-5 win over BERG.
With first place in the group on the line, Astral closed out Day 1 by defeating SINQU REHTI 13-6, completing the group stage with a flawless 3-0 record and securing the top seed heading into the playoffs.
Championship Sunday
The action continued on June 29, where only six teams remained in the race for the trophy.
Astral met SINQU REHTI once again in the semifinals. Despite the pressure of the knockout stage, the team delivered another composed performance, securing a 2-0 victory to book a place in the Grand Final.
Waiting on the other side was Leo, who had topped Group B and earned their own place in the championship match.
With the title on the line, Astral produced another confident performance, defeating Leo 2-0 to complete an undefeated tournament run and become Urban Riga Open Season 5 Champions.
swiz Named Tournament MVP
The celebrations didn’t end with lifting the trophy.
Following Astral’s championship run, swiz was awarded the Urban Riga Open Season 5 MVP, recognizing his outstanding performances throughout the tournament. From the opening group stage to the Grand Final, he consistently delivered when it mattered most and played a key role in Astral’s unbeaten run.
Congratulations to swiz on a well-deserved individual achievement.
The First of Many
This victory marks an important milestone for Astral Esports as the organization celebrates its first-ever championship trophy.
The journey to this moment wasn’t always easy. Throughout the season, the team experienced difficult losses, tough tournament exits and plenty of moments that tested both the players and staff. Instead of letting those setbacks define them, Astral continued to improve, trust the process and grow stronger with every event.
Ending the season by lifting a trophy and seeing swiz crowned tournament MVP – made the weekend even more special.
While this may be the first title in Astral Esports history, everyone in the team knows it’s only the beginning.
